Position Description:

Ecompex is recruiting for a Design and Architectural Lead to provide professional support services to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to support real property, technical, energy and environmental objectives and critical missions. Some responsibilities of this position can include Design and Architectural support, field drawing support and technical writing. Occasional travel will be required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to pass a Tier 1 background investigation to be placed in a position of Public Trust.
  • Must possess a bachelor's degree related to the position.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of architectural experience.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office suite including SharePoint, Word, Excel.
  • Strong communication, written, and verbal skills.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • Must possess a strong understanding of architectural technical terminology and the ability to effectively communicate them to a non-technical audience in writing.
  • Extensive experience with developing and reviewing technical drawings and plans.
  • Familiarity with the complete project life cycle, from initial design stages to project completion and closure.
  • Strong knowledge of federal government design regulations.
Required Skills:
  • Proficiency in architectural software for design and drafting, such as AutoCAD or similar programs, to create and modify project plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with relevant design standards and regulations, ensuring compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Experience in conducting portfolio planning, including facility assessments, alternative analyses, and cost estimations.
  • Proficient in technical writing and editing, particularly for architect and engineering (A/E) criteria development.
Responsibilities:

  • Enforce design standards, developing facility strategies, and reviewing designs for BPAM Operations facilities during the project planning, design, and construction phases to ensure Government standards are followed.
  • Perform and review portfolio planning, including facility assessments, alternative analyses, and cost estimates.
  • Review design plans or work with designers to ensure the Government, state, and local regulations, codes, directives, and standards are followed.
  • Coordinate and participate in preparing field drawings and diagrammatic sketches to be provided to designers for incorporation into new or revised plans and specifications for the projects.
  • Edit and write new architect and engineering (A/E) facility design and construction criteria.
  • Review and update existing criteria, based on interview notes with staff and written comments from architects, engineers, and facilities operations and maintenance staff.
