Job Summary:
The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering within the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology at Oklahoma State University is recruiting for a Research Assistant Professor to participate in novel research in the field of materials technology with a focus on metallic glue. The Research Assistant Professor provides expert consultation in one or more areas for the design, development, and implementation of technical products and systems. They are responsible for conducting advanced research and resolving highly complex technical issues. They will should have extensive engineering knowledge and be considered an expert in one or more engineering specialties. The incumbent in this position reports to the Head of the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
The Research Assistant Professor will work on advanced, complex technical projects requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. They will work autonomously, and are responsible for the design and development of this research program. They will be expected to submit proposals to obtain funding for continued research in the field of materials technology. Although not currently budgeted, in the future they may supervise Graduate Research Assistants or Undergraduate Research Assistants. The Research Assistant Professor will be expected to prepare their research for publication.
The incumbent in this position should be collegial in their interactions with colleagues, sponsors, administrators, faculty, staff, students, and external constituents. The Research Assistant Professor will be expected to prepare and deliver presentations on their research. They will participate in internal research requests, external conferences and extra-curricular events, and may occasionally deliver a lecture on their technical expertise. They may be required to travel for technology testing, presentations, outreach, or other necessary engagements.
The minimum requirements for this position are a Ph.D. in Engineering, conferred on or before the start date, and experience with performing research in metallic glue such as the science of nanorod synthesis and the technology of nanorod alignment under electro-magnetic fields.
