Who are we looking for?

Choice Hotels, one of the world's largest lodging franchisors, has an exciting new opportunity as our Senior Director, eCommerce on the Digital Commerce team. The Digital Commerce team is made up of product managers, designers, UX researchers, content producers, and marketers who are passionate about building the next generation of digital travel planning and shopping tools. We leverage industry trends, consumer insights, and data to make it as easy as possible to plan, book, and travel with Choice. As a key member of our Digital Commerce Leadership Team, you will be responsible for driving strategy, business management, and operational execution for key commercial areas including digital content production, ancillary and partner revenue strategy, and overall business management. In addition, this position will partner with teams across Choice - including marketing, brand, distribution, and data analytics teams - to evolve our eCommerce business in line with Choice's overall business and commercial strategy.

Your Responsibilities

Business Management
  • Ongoing evaluation of revenue and business metrics, with a specific focus on optimization of ancillary and partner revenue
  • Partnership with Search and Marketing teams to maximize effectiveness of spend, and day-to-day evaluation of business performance and identification of associated opportunities.
  • Management of key vendor and partner relationships
  • Assisting with budget management, business update decks, contracts management, and data reporting for the eCommerce organization.

Content Production Oversight & Leadership
  • Responsible for Content Production Team, including 1 direct report and 3-4 indirect reports.
  • Work with the team on development of best practices and strategies for maintaining and updating content on Choice's digital platforms.
  • Develop best practices for integrating new 3rd part partners into our Digital environments, including development of models to optimize placements for engagement and revenue.

Strategy Development
  • Work closely with key partner teams within Choice to understand their business needs and objectives and develop strategies for the Digital team to support those needs. This could include international teams, brand teams, and others.
  • Partner with digital analytics counterparts on deeply understanding digital performance metrics and develop strategies to optimize business results.

Staff Management
  • Recruit, train, and coach team of direct reports.
  • Manage team assignment and ongoing rebalancing.
  • Managing performance evaluation for associates, including compensation, rewards, and disciplinary actions as appropriate.

Communication
  • Partner with business leaders from across the organization (Distribution, Loyalty, Sales, etc.) to create aligned and mutually reinforcing strategies and roadmaps for execution.
  • Develop strong partnerships with leaders within the eCommerce team, engineering, marketing, and digital analytics.
  • Share frequent and ongoing updates with Choice peers and executive leadership that creates strategic alignment, shared understanding of key product development initiatives, and sense of progress and confidence in results delivered.

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in an area such as eCommerce, strategy, marketing, finance, or analytics
  • Minimum of 5 years' leadership experience in an eCommerce-focused role
  • Extensive experience with data analysis in general and web analytics specifically
  • Deep understanding of eCommerce, merchandising, conversion drivers, and how to grow a digital business.
  • Prior experience in the hospitality industry preferred.
  • Excellent functional skills including problem solving, financial modeling, forecasting skills, analytical skills, and project management.
  • Ability to influence, negotiate and effectively drive collaboration amongst business and IT stakeholders across the organization
  • Ability to unpack complex business challenges and build strategies to address them.
  • Proficiency with metrics and data for mobile and online consumer businesses, ideally using Adobe Analytics
  • Outstanding verbal, written and listening communication skills.
  • Strong partnership skills, and a deep desire to work collaboratively.

Your Team

This position reports to the Vice President, eCommerce, and will be responsible for leading the Content Production and Business Operations functions, with 1-2 direct reports and 4-5 indirect reports.

Your Work Location

As our Senior Director, eCommerce, you will be based in our beautiful, state-of-the-art technology hub in Scottsdale, AZ. In October 2021, Choice opened a newly constructed world class technology center.

Right now, our associates in Scottsdale, AZ are working in a hybrid environment, up to 4 days per week in the office and virtual from your home office the remaining days. We provide flexibility and encourage ongoing communication with your leadership to establish expectations about your unique needs.
